Since it opened in 1996, Apsara, on the lower floor of a stately old family mansion on Queen’s Park East, has been the indisputable high-water mark for authentic sub-continental Indian fine dining. The spanking new Asian décor after the restaurant’s stunning revamp in 2015/16 makes it even more beautiful – and the food remains as magnificent as ever. Exciting new cutting-edge fusion dishes join improved standard dishes on the new menu of Trinidad’s best and oldest North Indian restaurant.

Apsara is one-fifth of an entertainment/lifestyle centre offering Thai fine dining Tamnak Thai, (see page 48) an independent patio sushi bar and, on the completely rebuilt upper floor, two brand new adult-oriented establishments. The cigar bar, Old Havana, overlooking the Savannah, sells real Cubans that complement the view of sunset while you sip the finest single malt scotches, brandies, cognacs and premium Caribbean rums in the world – and you can smoke inside! The luxurious, Asian-themed Siam, accessed by its own scenic elevator, is Trinidad’s most exclusive nightlife experience and the natural habitat of the most discerning members of Trinidadian society.
