East Meets East in West Port of Spain, Where HAKKA is Mecca

A century ago, Hakka Chinese migrants moved from Mei Zhou, China, to Calcutta, India, where they married Oriental culinary techniques with Indian ingredients to create a new, zesty, tangy cuisine that could have been deliberately crafted for the Trinidadian palate. The popular items served at HAKKA Express outlets only hint at the wider menu at HAKKA’s sit-down restaurant in Woodbrook. If HAKKA Express outlets are embassies, then HAKKA restaurant is the mother country, and the pilgrimage more than worth the trip! The chefs, too, have travelled from Calcutta to Port of Spain to recreate the Hakka experience. Every dish on the dine-in menu can be customised and is available for takeaway at the restaurant.
